COUNCIL FOR ABAVANDIMWE
The Council for Abavandimwe is dedicated to supporting and protecting the rights of Indigenous Banyarwanda Community in Uganda. Although recognized as Uganda's 24th tribe under the 1995 Constitution, Indigenous Banyarwanda Community still face discrimination, particularly in securing citizenship and travel documents, with some questioned about their Ugandan identity
This discrimination affects their ability to access essential services like education, healthcare, and employment, and restricts their rights to register businesses, own land, or join the security forces. The Council advocates for equal rights, working through legal support, education, and policy efforts to ensure all Indigenous Banyarwanda in Uganda are treated with respect, equality, and dignity.
